Can you feel it?

When was the last time you felt your pinky toe?

I know it sounds weird, but bear with me. 🤣

When was the last time you felt your pinky toe?

And not with your fingers, but felt it as a part of your body?

A bit of a strange start, but trust me, there is a purpose to this. 🤭

Did you know that we spend the majority of our days inside our heads, not really aware that we even have a body?

And I don’t mean looking (and maybe judging) at ourselves in the mirror. 🙄

And did you also know that if you bring your awareness to your heart space right now, in the middle of your chest, you’ll find that you can feel some sensations there?

Gentle pressure, warmth or heat, some contraction, gentle fluttering or tingling...

Maybe it’s in other parts of your body too—your belly, throat, face, thighs...

Can you feel it?

These sensations are our emotions.

Just here, chilling out in our bodies, waiting for us to notice them and allow them to do what they are here to do—give us the message. End the communication loop.

Because that’s what they do—they are our body’s way to communicate with us.

We say so freely, "I am soooo angry," but do we know how anger feels anymore?

How sure are we that when we say, "I am angry," we’re not actually sad? Or embarrassed?

Well, we can’t be sure at all.

Because the demonisation of emotions can be traced back to Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire (!!!!!) I mean... I’m no historian, but that’s a pretty old tradition to still be following. 🫣

So if we have been taught, as a society, that emotions are irrational, disruptive disturbances, and that to live a fulfilled life we need to suppress them, how can we be aware of how anger feels in our body?

And this is crazy for me to comprehend.

Something that is part of our biology, part of our evolution, has been painted as something "bad", "hysterical", and something that makes us "weak".

Why are we trying to rob ourselves of a massive part of our lives?

To feel is a privilege.

And it’s also freeing.

Because those sensations that are living in your body...

They’ll stay there until they get to close the communication loop.

Some of them might be there from the age of 6, some from the age of 13, some from the age of 26.

They don’t disappear with time—the body keeps the score.

And once you give them space, allow them to close the loop, and feel the feels, they’ll go, freeing up so much energy and so much space.

The change seems subtle, but the consequences of it are far greater than I could ever put into words.

So let’s stop subscribing to some old misogynistic belief that emotions are something shameful that needs to be hidden, and feel them.

Because when you do, you create room for soooo much beauty to come in instead. 🥹

With all my love,

I’ve been in a bit of a funk this week 🥹 And it got me thinking about something I feel like we don’t talk about enough: What happens when life feels heavy, and you suddenly find yourself reaching for the old familiar ways of coping? The habits you’ve been trying to leave behind. The things you told yourself you were “done with.” The decisions you know don’t necessarily lead you where you want to go. Because when we’re overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or simply going through a heavier...

If you still believe that getting the promotion, earning X amount of money, getting married, having a baby, buying the house, moving to your dream country… …will suddenly make everything in your life better and make you magically happy, I'm here to deliver the bad news. Don't shoot the messenger 🫣 Those things can absolutely bring you joy. But they will never be able to take away the anxiety. The feeling that everything is on fire. The feeling of being pulled in 17 different directions at...

I noticed myself being more anxious these last couple of weeks. More than the usual ADHD anxious 🤭 And because I'm so deep in my self-development and healing in this cycle of life, it was quite noticeable for me. So I did what I always do when I notice myself feeling more anxious: I started paying attention to my thoughts. Because from my experience, if you want to get to the bottom of why you're feeling anxious, one of the best places to start is by noticing your thought patterns. Our...
