Why taking few steps back can be a good thing

I’ve been in a bit of a funk this week 🥹

And it got me thinking about something I feel like we don’t talk about enough:

What happens when life feels heavy, and you suddenly find yourself reaching for the old familiar ways of coping?

The habits you’ve been trying to leave behind.

The things you told yourself you were “done with.”

The decisions you know don’t necessarily lead you where you want to go.

Because when we’re overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or simply going through a heavier season, we naturally reach for what feels familiar.

Our nervous system knows those things.

They’ve soothed us before.

So, sometimes we go back.

And I think this is where we can be much gentler with ourselves.

Because going back to an old habit doesn’t automatically mean you’re back at square one.

Growth is not linear.

You might take a few steps backwards.

You might have days where you make the same choices you used to make.

But when we you do it with awareness, with compassion instead of shame and feeling of failure, we are not actually going backwards.

Sometimes, awareness is enough.

Remembering, that even the smallest of shifts, can lead to completely different reality.

You can still seek for the familiar comfort.

You can rest.

You can watch TV.

You can have a slow day.

And you can choose to make one, even the smallest decision, to show up differently.

Maybe it's a 10 min workout even when you feel like you can't.

Maybe it's a 1 min break for TV, phone or any other stimulations.

Maybe its eating one nourishing meal in-between the sweets you Luteal phase is demanding you to eat 🤣

Or maybe it's letting go of the guilt and shame for not feeling you best.

Because life is not linear.

It ebbs and flows.

Ebbs and flows.

And maybe right now, I’m in an ebb.

That doesn’t mean the flow is gone.

It means I’m human.

And the flow will come again.

Until next week ❤️

With all my love,

Darja x

The feeling of being pulled in 17 different directions at...

I noticed myself being more anxious these last couple of weeks. More than the usual ADHD anxious 🤭 And because I'm so deep in my self-development and healing in this cycle of life, it was quite noticeable for me. So I did what I always do when I notice myself feeling more anxious: I started paying attention to my thoughts. Because from my experience, if you want to get to the bottom of why you're feeling anxious, one of the best places to start is by noticing your thought patterns. Our...

POV: reprogramming my nervous system because I was raised being told I have to work hard for everything I want. I posted this POV on TikTok recently and got sooo many DMs asking me: “Okay but HOW do you actually do that?” 👀 And honestly, I love this question. Because it’s one thing to understand that your nervous system, beliefs and subconscious patterns influence how you show up in life… And another thing to actually start changing them in your everyday life. So I thought this week, instead...
